Henry Hudson

Half Moon in Hudson's Bay Hudson Stays Behind

Henry Hudson was an explorer from England. He was in search of the Northwest Passage. This was a northern route to Asia.

Hudson explored the river where New York City is today. The river was named after him. He did run into Native Americans.

Hudson's Route

Later he explored the eastern coast of Canada and into the Hudson Bay. He and his crew got stuck there during the winter. In the spring when they could sail again, he wanted to explore farther. Most of his crew was ready to go home. They left Henry Hudson, his son, and a few others in a small boat and returned home. Hudson and his companions were never heard from again.
